It’s a gorgeous ingredient! Green tea has been used for millennia in medicine, for general health and in skincare. It is a powerful skincare ingredient, mainly due to its extraordinary concentration of antioxidants. Green tea derived ingredients are useful in mature skin, sensitive skin, acneic skin and the caffeine in green tea can help brighten and restore skin’s radiance.
While High Tea products are safe for all skin types, they are intended to support the needs of actively changing, aging skin. Ideal for women in their 40s-50s, High Tea formulas benefit men and basically anyone over 35! There may be more active, extravagant ingredients than the average younger consumer needs, but there’s no harm in using them. Women in their 30s can certainly benefit. Women in their 20s should probably enjoy the beauty of skin that’s doing what it’s supposed to and focus on protecting it! Older women can use High Tea products as well, and will require a greater focus on hydration as skin has difficulty holding onto moisture as we age.
Yes! As a new brand, our first step toward an eco-conscious existence was to use safe, biodegradable ingredients. Our products also LAST! A long time! Each product should last 2-3 months, depending on your use, thus saving on bottles and the footprint of frequent shipments. When possible, we use suppliers in the US Northeast, near where we are located. While there is room for improvement and plans to be better, this is where we start.
Well, yes! But you may notice that I generally avoid that term. We cannot, nor should we be lead to believe that we can undo the damage that has already happened in our skin…not naturally and not without surgeries and other invasive/extreme treatments. I also think we should stop buying into the idea that we are “less than” because we are getting older! We do not need to try to be younger, but we can certainly take pride in ourselves and look our best in our skin.
Not all High Tea ingredients are certified organic, but many are. We strive to acquire as many of our raw materials as organic, fair trade, and sustainable. All ingredients are cruelty-free, naturally derived and approved for use in natural skincare by COSMOS and/or EcoCert. As a side note, cosmetic products cannot be certified as organic, but their ingredients can. There is no regulation or legal definition of “organic,” “natural” or “green” in personal care products.
Almost all products are completely vegan. I do, at times, include honey or beeswax in a formulation. Most of our formulas do not contain honey or beeswax, and all ingredients are listed in order under each product. If you have a question about a specific ingredient, please do send us a note – we’ll be happy to explain its use. There are ingredients that may have traditionally NOT been vegan or natural – things change so please ask if you have a specific concern. All High Tea ingredients are of natural origin.
Oh, yes!! You do not want to see what a face cream looks like a month later without preservatives! That said, all our fresh formulations containing water or water-based ingredients are naturally preserved. Natural preservatives do not last as long as synthetics, so please USE YOUR FRESH SKINCARE PRODUCTS! They are doing you no good on the shelf and I can’t wait for you to see the longer-term effects of our formulas on your appearance! Please pay attention to how long you should keep your products.
Our anhydrous (containing NO water or water-based ingredients) formulas are NOT preserved. They contain powerful antioxidants to extend the shelf lives of the precious oils used and have a bit of a longer shelf life. Care MUST be taken to not get water into these formulas.
